I graduated as a medical doctor from Aarhus University in 2020. In 2016, I completed a research year at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, AUH, focusing on HPV. I began an MD-PhD in 2018, which I defended in 2024. I am a postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University in the project “Unraveling the molecular mechanisms in viral transformation and progression of HPV-related disease”, conducting my own studies and co-supervising a PhD project (Cecilie Lærke Glintvad Tarpø).
I research HPV-related cancers and precancerous lesions, focusing on cervical cancer and biomarkers for prognosis, treatment decisions, and patient monitoring. My goal is to translate this research into clinical practice, and I collaborate closely with researchers in oncology, gynecology, head and neck cancer, pathology, and molecular medicine.
Nearly 10 years of research experience in cervical cancer and HPV. In my PhD, I investigated detection of circulating HPV DNA (ccfHPV DNA) in blood from cervical cancer patients. Based at the Department of Pathology, Aarhus University Hospital, I contributed to developing ddPCR- and NGS-based assays for ccfHPV DNA detection and prognostic HPV marker characterization. In my current postdoc, I study whether these markers can predict prognosis in women with CIN2 and guide treatment decisions.
